We’ve included a comprehensive FAQ section below to help answer your questions about our big day. Please take a moment to check through these details first, as we’re juggling many wedding preparations and may not be able to respond to individual inquiries right away. Thank you for understanding!
Do I need to pre-order my meal?
No, the Elora Mill will take dinner orders while guests are at their tables on the day of the wedding to be made and served fresh.
Is there transportation to/from the venue?
Yes! We are working with a shuttle company that will transport guests from The Best Western Fergus to our ceremony venue in Elora starting at 4:00 PM. This shuttle will also be available from 10:30 PM to 1:30 AM to drive guests back to the Best Western Fergus.
Where are the ceremony and reception taking place?
The ceremony and reception will both be held at The Elora Mill. The ceremony will be indoors in a beautiful chapel named The Foundry. The rest of the evening will commence at The Irvine, in The Granary building.
The Foundry Address: 24 Carlton Pl, Elora, ON N0B 1S0
The Irvine Address: 51 Mill St W, Elora, ON N0B 1S0
Is there parking on site?
Yes, free parking is available near the entrance of the venue.
What is the dress code?
Dress code is formal. You’re welcome to wear suits, dress pants, and dresses. We kindly ask that you refrain from wearing white/cream/blush, or jeans.
When should I arrive?
The ceremony will begin at 5:00 pm. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the ceremony to park and find your seat.
What time does the wedding end?
For most of our guests, the wedding will end at midnight. Direct family and a small group of selected guests will stay until 1:00 AM.
Will there be any religious elements or prayers during the wedding?
We’ve planned a secular ceremony that reflects our personal values and beliefs. While we deeply respect the diverse faiths and traditions of our loved ones, we’ve chosen to keep our ceremony non-religious.
Can I bring a guest/date?
Unless you are specifically told you can bring a +1, we unfortunately cannot accommodate additional guests. Due to our limited capacity, we can only allow the people named on your invitation.
Am I allowed to take photos/videos?
We kindly ask you to put your phones and cameras away during the ceremony. Award-winning wedding photographer Jeff Shuh will be taking photos during the event. You are allowed to use your phone during the reception to take photos and/or videos.
Will there be an open bar?
Yes, we will have an open bar throughout the reception! We’re excited to celebrate with you and want everyone to enjoy themselves. We simply ask that all guests drink responsibly and ensure they have safe transportation arranged for the evening.
Guests unable to handle their alcohol will be removed from the venue.
Are kids invited?
Although we love the littles ones, we ask that you get a babysitter for the night so that you and other guests can relax. Exceptions apply.
Is there a hotel room block?
We have a room block at The Elora Mill and at the Best Western in Fergus. Furthermore, we also have made a list of great accommodations in the area. More information can be found under “Travel”.
Am I allowed to smoke?
Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property, including cigarettes, vapes, and all other tobacco products. This is a venue policy that we must strictly follow, so we kindly ask that you leave these items at home. Thank you for helping us respect the venue’s guidelines.
What kind of weather can be expected?
Our wedding falls right at the start of spring in Elora, which means the weather can be a little unpredictable. Looking at March 21 over the past five years, daytime temperatures have typically ranged between 0°C and 8°C, with evenings often dipping close to freezing. Some years have seen light rain or even a dusting of snow, while others have been cool and dry. The most likely scenario is a crisp, early-spring day with a chance of mixed precipitation.
Can I give a speech or a personal announcement?
Please do not give a speech or personal announcement unless you were specifically asked by the bride and/or groom to do so.
Are pets allowed?
The Elora Mill does not allow pets to be present at the venue. This means your pet can not attend this wedding.
Does the DJ take song requests?
As we have curated a lengthy playlist specifically tailored to our special day, we kindly ask you to not request any songs from the DJ. Thank you!
